The article analyzes the regulatory and technical documents on the operation and calibration of fixed and adjustable dose volume pipettes. The sources of uncertainty in the measurement result during operation and calibration of pipettes, which are advisable to use in the practice of accredited testing and calibration laboratories, are identified and described. Particular attention is paid to the uncertainty associated with the evaporation of liquid during the dosing and measurement processes. A formula and experimental procedure for determining mass loss due to liquid evaporation are proposed. The elements of calculation of the uncertainty components of the measurement result are presented.
